Moorea (Rea) C. Bell is the Communications and Content Intern at the Center for News Technology & Innovation. She is a Master of Arts candidate in International Relations at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, with a functional focus on Technology & Innovation and a regional focus on China.
Prior to joining CNTI, Bell served as a Communications and Media Intern at the National Association with Black Engagement with Asia (NABEA), where she managed digital content strategy and developed communication materials supporting strategic messageing on Africa-Asia diaspora topics. She also worked as a Research Assistant Intern at the Institute for China-America Studies (ICAS), conducting research in Chinese on China’s global development engagement.
Bell spent time abroad studying at National Taiwan University and also was a Cultural Relations Reporter at Taiwan News in Taipei, where she published media pieces on Taiwanese culture, global relations and regional geopolitics. She also completed immersive Chinese language study at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in Nanjing, China, earning a Certificate of American & Chinese Studies.
Bells holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Studies, cum laude, from Middleburg College with a minor in Spanish studies. She is proficient in Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and English, and is currently learning French.
